Pity Party

bad day. 

Today at school, during a break from my classes I got a call from my mom. She was calling to tell me to call someone at work. Not just anyone, but my boss's boss. Not someone you EVER want a message from. Right away I knew what it was. Layoff. I work directly with schools, therefore we are in the same situation that thousands of public (&private) schools are going through. There have been cuts, layoffs, etc. 

So today, my call came.

I have been "Bumped" 

Someone in a position that has seniority over me has been canned. That gives them the right to bump whomever has the same position title (typist) as them until the get a new job. Just dandy. 

So here I am, sitting in the library of my university sobbing on 

the phone with a man that I never speak too. Isn't that great? 

My job isn't over quite yet. There is always the chance that this person won't want to take my job. I am only making 300 something dollars every two weeks anyway. Who would want that after working full-time? And there is always the chance that whoever this bumper is, that they don't live around here. My job works with education, and there are several different buildings that are within a range of where I live. I'm hoping that my job is safe! That I get another phone call telling me that everything will be okay, and that that first phone call was just a prank (..a very very horrible prank)

I don't think that I would care this much, people get laid off. It happens! I just didn't want it to happen to me. I really really like my job. I enjoy what I do and looked forward to working there until the day came where I had my masters and could get my bosses job. 

Oh yeah, and the fact that this shit show happened during my finals week was lovely.
