Avatar in 3D

This past Thursday, I crossed 2 more things off my 101 things in 1001 days list! I saw a movie in 3D. Avatar in 3D was amazing, I had seen in in regular theaters and really liked it, so why not see it in 3D while I still can? Avatar is also #37 on IMDb's list of the top 250 movies. What did you think of the movie?  If your interested in looking a little deeper into some of the symbolism used in the movie, I found a great blog that provides some background on the symbols and spirituality in the film.

"James Cameron’s blockbuster has grossed over $800 million worldwide. I thought it was an amazing movie. It has become a cultural phenomenon in America that can’t be avoided. “Avatar” tells the tale of a disabled Marine, Jake Sully, who occupies the body of a 10-foot-tall alien so he can live among the mystical forest denizens of the moon world Pandora. Sully is sent in mufti to further the schemes of the evil corporate nature-rapists desperate to obtain the precious mineral “unobtainium.” Jake inevitably goes native, embraces the eco-faith of Pandora’s Na’Vi inhabitants and their tree goddess, the “all mother,” and rallies the Pandoran aborigines against the evil forces of a thinly veiled 22nd-century combine of Blackwater and Halliburton."

Both times that I have seen this movie, I leave feeling guilty. I want to be part of that world, see the world & nature as they do. Oh well, If you haven't seen this movie I totally recommend it. Splurge and see it in 3D...its worth it!
