So yesterday Chris decided that he wanted to make a pie. So today we made one!
Deep Dish Apple Pie
Whatcha Need:
4 Pounds Granny Smith Apples (peeled & cored)
Zest of 1 Lemon
Zest of 1 Orange (after tasting it...this could have been left out)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon orange juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
How to do it:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees (F)
Cut apples up apples and toss them with zests, juices, sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.
fill pie crust with apple mixture (pile them high! they will cook down considerably!)
sprinkle on crumb topping
bake for about 1 hour (or until the crust is browns and juices begin to bubble out)

Whatcha Need:
a pack of maple brown sugar oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, diced
(mix in butter with a fork until crumbly)
